Monday, July 6, 2009 – Altar Boyz

Altar Boyz is a hilarious off-Broadway musical about a fictitious boy band from Ohio. It explores the popularity of boy bands, Christian music and American culture. Get tickets to Altar Boyz here.

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 –  Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival

All's Well That Ends Well is on until September 19 at Vanier Park. It's the story of Helena, a lowly servant granted her choice of husband by the king. She chooses Bertam, the son of her mistress the Countess. Bertram flees, but offers Helena a challenge: get the ring off his finger and conceive a child by him, and he will be her husband. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 – Art in Public Places

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents Art in Public Places, at the District Hall of North Van (355 West Queens Rd). See 2D paintings by Emilie Tanguay Pelchat, who uses acrylics and mixed media to create urban landscapes. 3D art by Michelle Vulama also focuses on nature by using the natural shape and textures of rocks and a paintbrush. Gallery hours are 8:30 to 4:30 pm, see the Arts Council site for details.

Saturday, July 11, 2009 – Queerwood: Lights! Camera! Auction!

Kick off the 21st Vancouver Queer Film Festival later this month with this event presented by Out on Screen. Hear rock opera, comedy, trapeze artistry and a silent auction to raise funds for Out in Schools, the Queer History Project and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. Tickets are available at Little Sister's (1238 Davie St.) or online at Queer Film Festival. Lights! Camera! Auction! starts at 7 pm at the Roundhouse Community Theatre.

Sunday, July 12, 2009 - Vancouver Indie Craft Fair

Vancouver's largest indie craft fair has gone bite sized the second Sunday of each month! Dates include July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, and November 8. Browse wares from a bakers dozen of local vendors, with vendors changing each month. The craft fair is at Little Mountain Studios (195 E. 26th Ave. at Main St). 11-4 pm; admission is by donation.
